CATS was the single largest and most difficult show I have done to date. The process of, as a student designer, working on a fully professionally supported show with a talented team of staff designers was an absolute joy. I started my conversations with the director focussed on creating a world evoking the 1998 recording of CATS’ touring production, and from there we built out into discussing more unique designs. I worked to create a world that was darker and shadowier, feeling like a "spooky junkyard”, or a place draped in textured light. I worked with a professional master electrician to hang the plot for my show.
