In Dracula, I entered the process with two core goals as a designer, to portray the changing emotional mood on stage, and to create the physical space that the performers were in. During this process, I utilised haze and bursts of fog in order to aid in the power and mystery of Dracula himself. Throughout the process of the show, I crossed through a series of different design concepts in order to best portray and support the space and emotions on stage. Dracula was the first production I’ve designed with a fully hung plot specifically for the show, including hang, focus, gel, and gobos.
