Promenade | Lighting Designer

Interlochen Center for The Arts - Harvey Theatre | 2022

Promenade was absurdist and existential, and provided an incredible opportunity to play. As a designer, I was aiming to create location and time of day in some parts of the production, and then completely suck that sense of space and location out. Throughout the process of the show, I began to lean more and more into the absurd nature, and the more that I threw the rules out of the window, the more engaging and interesting the play became from a lighting perspective. This play was designed from the rep plot, with floor booms put in place and adjustments made for specials.
